Judge, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois
Nominated by Herbert Hoover on February 26, 1931, to a new seat authorized by 46 Stat. 1417. Confirmed by the Senate on March 2, 1931, and received commission on March 4, 1931. Served as chief judge, 1948-1957. Assumed senior status on September 15, 1957. Service terminated on December 31, 1958, due to resignation.
