Nominated by Jimmy Carter on September 27, 1977, to a seat vacated by C. Rhodes Bratcher. Confirmed by the Senate on October 12, 1977, and received commission on October 12, 1977. Served as chief judge, 1990-1991. Assumed senior status due to certified disability on November 29, 1991. Service terminated on February 18, 1992, due to death.
