Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on July 2, 1957, to a seat vacated by Jean S. Breitenstein. Confirmed by the Senate on August 5, 1957, and received commission on August 6, 1957. Served as chief judge, 1959-1976. Assumed senior status on August 31, 1976. Service terminated on October 23, 1992, due to death.
