U.S. Circuit Courts for the Districts of Iowa: Legislative History

July 15, 1862
12 Stat. 576
Congress established a U.S. circuit court for the District of Iowa and assigned the district to the Ninth Circuit.
July 23, 1866
14 Stat. 209
Congress reorganized the circuits and assigned the District of Iowa to the Eighth Circuit.
July 20, 1882
22 Stat. 172
This act divided Iowa into the northern and southern judicial districts and created a U.S. circuit court for each district.
March 3, 1911
36 Stat. 1087
Congress abolished the U.S. circuit courts, effective January 1, 1912.
