Visiting Foreign Judicial Fellow from Brazil
The Federal Judicial Center’s Visiting Foreign Judicial Fellows program provides an opportunity for judges and legal professionals from other countries to be “scholars in residence” at the Center and to conduct research in areas of importance to judicial reform in their home countries. Judge Marcelo Da Costa Bretas, a federal judge from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was at the Center from January to March 2015. He worked on a paper about how the U.S. legal system balances the needs of law enforcement with individual privacy rights. Pictured is the Supreme Court of Brazil.
