IP Benchbook Project: Ukraine

A delegation of Ukrainian judges who are writing an intellectual property (IP) benchbook were invited by the Commercial Law Development Program to participate in consultations on the adjudication of IP law. The delegation met with federal judges at the District Court of Minnesota and had the opportunity to observe patent-related court proceedings. The Ukrainian judges also attended panel discussions with Minnesota's IP bar. The delegation spent a day at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia, and concluded their program by attending presentations at the FJC and touring the Center's production studio. This visit built on a 2015 workshop in Ukraine on developing an intellectual property benchbook, during which the benchbook committee began the process of writing a judicial guide on intellectual property. Since then, the five committee members have completed eight chapters.
