Nominated by Calvin Coolidge on January 19, 1929, to a new seat authorized by 45 Stat. 1081. Confirmed by the Senate on January 31, 1929, and received commission on January 31, 1929. Served as chief judge, 1953-1954. Assumed senior status on September 1, 1954. Service terminated on November 17, 1969, due to death.
