Received a recess appointment from Harry S Truman on September 27, 1950, to a seat vacated by J.F.T. O`Connor; nominated to the same position by Harry S Truman on November 27, 1950. Confirmed by the Senate on December 13, 1950, and received commission on December 21, 1950. Served as chief judge, 1965-1966. Assumed senior status on June 30, 1966. Service terminated on September 18, 1966, due to reassignment.

Reassigned on September 18, 1966, to a new seat authorized by 80 Stat. 75. Service terminated on March 9, 1974, due to death.
