Nominated by Calvin Coolidge on May 24, 1928, to a seat vacated by Xenophon Hicks. Confirmed by the Senate on May 26, 1928, and received commission on May 26, 1928. Served as chief judge, 1948-1949. Assumed senior status due to certified disability on November 2, 1949. Service terminated on December 19, 1952, due to death.
