Nominated by Harry S Truman on January 29, 1951, to a seat vacated by John McDuffie. Confirmed by the Senate on March 6, 1951, and received commission on March 9, 1951. Served as chief judge, 1966-1971. Assumed senior status on August 25, 1971. Service terminated on April 13, 2000, due to death.
