Nominated by Ronald Reagan on November 16, 1981, to a seat vacated by Max Rosenn. Confirmed by the Senate on December 3, 1981, and received commission on December 3, 1981. Served as chief judge, 1998-2003. Assumed senior status on May 4, 2003. Service terminated on May 19, 2006, due to death.
