Nominated by Ronald Reagan on May 26, 1983, to a seat vacated by Hernan G. Pesquera. Confirmed by the Senate on July 26, 1983, and received commission on July 27, 1983. Served as chief judge, 1999-2004. Assumed senior status on November 15, 2005. Service terminated on February 16, 2007, due to retirement.
