Nominated by Warren G. Harding on February 28, 1923, to a new seat authorized by 42 Stat. 837. Confirmed by the Senate on March 2, 1923, and received commission on March 2, 1923. Served as chief judge, 1948-1959. Service terminated on August 4, 1965, due to death.
