Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on June 29, 1954, to a new seat authorized by 68 Stat. 8. Confirmed by the Senate on July 14, 1954, and received commission on July 15, 1954. Served as chief judge, 1961-1973. Assumed senior status on September 3, 1974. Service terminated on November 21, 1996, due to death.
